Frequently Asked Questions

How long will each session last?
Each session lasts 50 minutes, usually on a weekly basis.

How much does it cost?
I offer a FREE 30-minute consultation before sessions start. This allows us to meet and discuss the presenting issues, and to decide if we are able to work together. If you decide to go ahead, the sessions cost £60 per session, payable by cash or Direct Bank Transfer. Evening appointments are available at no extra cost.

How many sessions will I need?
How many sessions depends on each individual and the presenting issues. There is no set amount. It may be that you only require a few sessions (short-term), or maybe longer term would be more beneficial. We will review the sessions regularly which will help monitor your progress and help to decide if/how many more sessions may be required.

What happens if I cancel a session?
If a session is cancelled giving 24 hours notice, no charge will be made. However, if less than 24 hours notice is given, full session fee will be charged. This is because with late notice it is highly unlikely that your session slot could be reallocated to someone else. If I have to cancel an appointment - I will not charge for the session.

Will our sessions remain confidential?
One of the advantages of seeing a Counsellor/Psycotherapist privately is that nobody will know you are coming unless you choose to tell them. There are a few exceptions for legal or safety reasons (for example, if there is a risk of harm to yourself, others or children). If I felt legally obligated to break confidentiality, I would inform you and explain why.

Is it normal to feel nervous?
Deciding to consult a professional is a big step and a brave one. Some people feel quite nervous, some feel relieved they are getting some help, either way it is my job to put you at ease and make it easy.

I think my problem sounds silly - what will you think of me?
I am not here to judge rather to help you and make you feel welcome. If something is bothering you it isn't silly and I hope you will feel like you are in safe hands.

Will therapy work for me?
Results cannot be guaranteed, however I do not work with people I am not confident I can help.

I wish to go ahead, what do I do now?
Just call or email me. We will then have a brief chat in order that I can find out why it is you feel you need counselling and then you can decide if you would like to book your first session.

Where can I park?
There is free parking in the road.
